Swim Across America (SAA) invites swimmers of all ages and levels of expertise to participate in the Sound to the Cove Swim hosted by the City of Glen Cove on Saturday, Aug. 11. Join hundreds of motivated Long Islanders in your choice of a 1-mile, 5K, or the extreme 10K swim across the Long Island Sound. Whether you are a recreational, competitive or master swimmer, you can help raise awareness in the battle against cancer. Gerry Oakes of SAA was pleased to announce, "This year, one of our 10K swimmers is a breast cancer survivor. We always have cancer survivors swimming, but the 10K is an exception."

The City of Glen Cove is proud to welcome the Sound to the Cove Swim every year as swimmers return to the waters along the shoreline of one of our city's most picturesque natural treasures, Morgan Memorial Park, and give their all to raise funds for cancer research.

Registration begins at 6 a.m. (5 a.m. for 10K swimmers). Following the main event, swimmers celebrate their accomplishments with a brunch, an awards ceremony and check presentations to beneficiaries. Proceeds from this year's swim will support Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Nassau County, the SAA Lab at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Manhattan, as well as two new beneficiaries, the Children's Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, where the money will support a research project on osteosarcoma and, in partnership with the SASS foundation, SAA will support two Breast Cancer Awareness Days on Long Island in October.

Swim Across America is celebrating its 21st season of hosting open water and pool swims to fight cancer. To date, the organization has raised more than $13.5 million towards cancer research and prevention.

The City of Glen Cove invites volunteers to assist in registration, brunch, and logistical support at the awards ceremony. Your generous contribution is deeply appreciated. Working together, as a community, we can make great strides in the fight against cancer.
