The North Shore Women's winter track and field team started right where they left off, in first place. The first competition of the season took place at the New Balance Track and Field Center in NYC, formerly known as the Armory. An exciting evening of races took place as the North Shore team defeated all the Nassau County B teams in every relay event.

The 4x400, distance medley relay, and the 4x800 relays all took first place honors, besting the rest of the competition in some cases by 30 seconds. It was a night for new beginnings for the freshmen, and a farewell season for the seniors. More importantly it was a continued move in the right direction as the team continued its display of dominance. The following athletes were all members of at least one first place relay: senior Debbie Gilbert; juniors Thea Lange, Kasia Staniaszek and Marisa Dussel; sophomores Christina Convey, Brianna Welch, Heather Magnuson and Charlotte Manogue; freshman Arianna Pappas, Emily Osman and Danielle Muoio. Brianna Welch also placed first in the invitational 1000m.

The 2007-08 varsity and junior varsity teams consists of six veterans and a number of energetic newcomers. Returning seniors are Skyler Cullum, Georgianna Priory, Jannina Rojas and Kristin Zaleskie. A senior newcomer is Jennifer DiLeo.

The teams had their first match of the season. Both teams played well against Locust Valley High School, coming away with the first win of the season. Bowling varsity were Brittany and Skyler Cullum, Jannina Rojas, Megan Silka and Kristin Zaleskie. Brittany led the team with a high game of 165 on the way to a 421 series, while Kristin Zaleskie had a 151 high game and 410 series. Also bowling well was Skyler Cullum with a high game of 156. Jannina Rojas and Megan Silka also contributed to the win.

All matches will be played at Sheridan Lanes in Mineola on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
