The Gold Coast Lions Club will hold a garage sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It will be held at 3 Chestnut Street, Glen Head. Come and browse among the gently used treasures you will find and help the community as well. All proceeds from the sale will go to local charities and to help the sight-impaired. The Glen Cove High School Junior Class is holding a garage school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 47 Clement Street in Glen Cove. All proceeds go to the junior class.

The Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department will host its Annual Fire Prevention Open House from 12 to 3 p.m. at 10 Glen Cove Avenue. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend the event, which includes several demonstrations on rope rescue, car fire, auto extrication, kitchen stove / oven fire, fire truck rides, fire hose handling and learn about practical steps they can take to prevent fires at home. Presentations on fire safety and an information table with safety tips, activities for children, and membership information will be available. Welcome little goblins, witches, heroes and princesses. The Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) is once again holding its annual Children’s Costume Parade on Saturday, Oct. 26. Festivities begin at noon at The Regency at Glen Cove, 94 School Street with a ‘Scary Story Hour’ and refreshments.
Parade registration takes place from noon to 1 p.m. at Village Square. After the parade, children may trick-or-treat throughout the downtown at businesses displaying the special BID “Welcome” posters. The Fun Bus will be in Village Square from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a costume contest, a pie-eating contest and an apple pie bake-off. Marchers must fill out a registration form. These can be obtained, along with applications for the pie-eating contest and pie bake-off, at the Downtown B.I.D. office at 18 Village Square, or at www.glencovedowntown.org.
