The Glen Cove Board of Education and Central Administration will host a Community Budget Forum on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Glen Cove High School library (second floor). The forum is the first of several public meetings where the community may ask questions and provide input into the development of the 2014-15 school district budget. A full budget calendar will be posted in the near future.
An iPad traing class will be held at the Glen Cove Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. You will learn all about Apple’s hottest new gadget during this lecture and demonstration. Get an introduction to the iPad’s hardware, learn how to access the Internet, check your email, use apps and get new ones. Discover many tips and tricks. Please note, this class is for intermediate and advanced computer users only. There is no registration necessary for this class; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your iPad with you, if you have one.
The Glen Cove Hospital’s Auxiliary Annual Luncheon will take place on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 11:30 a.m., to be held in the Pratt Auditorium. At the meeting the annual reports will be given and there will be presentation of gifts.

The North Shore Community Chorus’ December holiday concert, which was cancelled due to a snowstorm, has been re-scheduled for Saturday, Jan.11, at 8 p.m. at the North Shore High School.
The HS auditorium will resound with the glorious sounds of brass instruments and choral voices, when the North Shore Community Chorus, under the direction of Stephen Goldstein and the Island Chamber Symphony Brass, under the direction of Jeremy Kempton, will take to the stage to present a magnificent holiday music spectacular.
Featured on the program are the “Gloria” by John Rutter and the “Christmas Cantata” by Daniel Pinkham. The program will also highlight holiday favorites by the Musica Schmoozica vocal ensemble, directed by Carol Goglia. The evening will culminate in a carol sing-along with brass and choir, and a new Chanukah medley for brass and choir, written by NSCC Director, Stephen Goldstein
The festivities will begin at 8 p.m. at the North Shore High School Auditorium, Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children/seniors and can be purchased at the door. For information call 631-470-6128.
Go to the Glen Cove Library for an afternoon of jokes as stand-up comedian, Mark Brier, returns to present an entertaining and unique program that’s sure to have you laughing out loud. His wholesome humor has had attendees of his previous programs in stitches. The audience is invited to share their favorite joke or just come and enjoy Mark’s humor. You’ll also learn about this comedic art as Mark provides tips on how to tell jokes. 2 p.m.
The Glen Cove-North Shore Citizens Association Meeting will be held on Friday, January 17 at 7:30PM at Page One Restaurant, 90 School Street, Glen Cove. This is a non-partisan community organization in which home owners, business owners and residents are all welcome.
