Meet Best-Selling Author Ann Hood 

Best-selling author Ann Hood will visit the Gold Coast Public Library at 7 p.m. to discuss three of her novels, The Obituary Writer, The Knitting Circle and The Red Thread. Hood’s novels deal with complex emotions, featuring women handling family issues, enjoying friendships, and dealing with tragedies large and small. Her writing is evocative, with a lyrical flow.


Friends of the Gold Coast Library will sell copies of her books and the author will sign them.

Glen Garden Club of Glen Head 

The object of the Glen Garden Club of Glen Head is to promote interest and activity in gardening to encourage the adoption of higher garden standards for the benefit of individuals and the community at large. The club meets at 10 a.m. at the Community Center on Glen Head Rd. in Glen Head (next to Glen Head Post Office). Meetings include demonstrations of flower arranging and programs on planting, horticulture and landscape design.

North Shore Community Chorus Performs Spirituals

Feel the spirit: The North Shore Community Chorus (NSCC), under the direction of Stephen Goldstein, will perform their final concert of the 2013-2014 season: an exciting and uplifting performance of African-American spirituals, featuring works by William Dawson, Jester Hairston, Houston Bright, Peter Bagley and Andre Thomas. The NSCC also feature a performance of musical selections by “Musica Schmoozica”  directed by Carol Goglia. 8 p.m. at the North Shore High School auditorium, 450 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head. Admission is free.

It’s time to get “lit” at sunset. Bring your book, beach chair and snacks and join in for the Glen Cove Library’s first ever evening book discussion at Pryibil Beach at 6 p.m., discussing Liane Moriarty’s poignant novel, What Alice Forgot. After suffering an accident that causes her to forget the last 10 years of her life, Alice is astonished to discover that she is 39 years old, a mother of three children and in the midst of an acrimonious divorce from a man she dearly loves. Join Marissa Lee Damiano and Amy Mondello as they lead a dynamic discussion of this novel.  Copies of the book are available at the reference desk.  Rain location will be at the library.
