Glen Cove High School Honors Student and National Honor Society member Blake Woods recently completed the competitive MythOlympics science technology and engineering summer program sponsored by ALCOA (Aluminum Company Of America), which he attended at Clarkson University. MythOlympics is a competitive scholarship-based program open to high-achieving students interested in pursuing academic careers in STEM (science technology engineering and math) fields.
Blake received a full scholarship, covering the cost of his attendance, and a $4,000 scholarship should he decide to attend Clarkson University. Woods also completed a one-week robotics program while at Clarkson University, where the team he led won top honors. Woods rounded out his summer at Clarkson by working as a high school research intern in the Clarkson University Laboratory for Biochemistry and Proteomics, and participated in Clarkson’s undergraduate Summer Research conference (SURE) where he presented a poster of his work on biochemical investigation of chicken eggs.
Woods shared his research on the protein content of brown eggs versus white eggs as one of the few high school students presenting at the Clarkson undergraduate SURE conference.
