Students Display Photos In NYC Exhibit

For the fourth year in a row the work of Melissa Johnides’ photography students  will be on display at the Calumet Gallery in New York City as part of the Professional Women Photographer’s Annual Student Photography Exhibit. Glen Cove High School seniors Dakota Herman and Elsie Goodman have submitted work for the “Self-Portraits” themed show, which was open to the entire New York metropolitan area.

The opening reception was held at the Calumet Gallery on Saturday, March 15, at 22 W. 22nd St., between 5th and 6th Avenues. This year’s guest speaker, Debra L. Rothenberg, is an award-winning photographer whose latest book Bruce Springsteen In Focus 1980-2012 was auctioned at the reception.

Johnides has had a student take home an award from this show in two of the last four years, so she has high hopes for Herman and Goodman.

The Professional Women Photographer’s Student Photography Exhibit runs through March 22. Admission is free. The Calumet Gallery is open Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information call 212-989-8500.
