DeRiggi-Whitton told the Record Pilot, “I would like to thank all of those that supported me during my campaign and all those that voted on election day. Representing the 18th District is an honor that I don’t take lightly, and you have my sincere promise to work diligently to represent our district well.
“My experience has shown me that governing is not an easy task, and in these economic times the challenges are even greater. There needs to be a real balance of working to ensure that every tax dollar is spent wisely, and at the same time preserving as many of the programs we have to protect our citizens and enhance our quality of life. I look forward to working with the Legislature with a level of professionalism that the residents of Nassau County deserve.
“Finally I would like to thank Diane Yatauro for her many years of service. She is a true example of a dedicated public servant and I wish her the best with her new endeavors with her family.”
