Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi, Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro and Glen Cove City Council Members Anthony Jimenez and Delia DeRiggi-Whitton attended a recent celebration at the American Legion Young Simmons Post 1765 in Glen Cove. The Post just announced that one of its members, Willibe Wilson, Jr., has been elevated to commander of the 10th District which encompasses Nassau, Suffolk and Queens Counties and has more than 16,000 members of the American Legion.
Wilson is a longtime, hardworking member of Young Simmons Post and is always ready to volunteer his assistance in the community.
At their regular monthly meeting, American Legion Post 1765 Commander David L. Hubbard and Post Chaplin Joseph W. Tolbert were proud to recognize one of their own for achieving this distinction.
Wilson had previously held the office of vice commander for the Tenth District and was elected commander last year at the American Legion Department of New York State District Caucus in Buffalo. As Commander, he now leads 16,000 legionnaires in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.
Mayor Suozzi and Legislator Yatauro were pleased to present Mr. Wilson with citations in honor of his new post.
