John Squillario, formerly of Glen Cove, and Delray Beach, Fla., passed away on Oct. 23, 2014; he was 93 years old. His wife Kathryn pre-deceased him. He is survived by his son Roy, grandchildren Jennifer, Stephen and Kyle. His son William, Kyle’s father, predeceased him. John was a proud veteran of World War 2. He owned Sutton Place Studio Interior Decorating in New York City for 35 years. He was a member of the fraternity Gamma ETA Kappa; the U.S. Power Squadron, and a life member of the New York Athletic Club and former Commodore of the New York Athletic Club Yacht Club. In August of 1965, while ocean fishing three miles off the shore of Long Island, he rescued four men from a burning power boat. He received the John Lox Biakely Memorial Trophy from the U.S. Power Squadron for his heroism and excellent judgment for this act. John loved dogs and boating. John Walter Renaldo of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., formerly of Glen Cove, died on Oct. 27, 2014, at age 68, of his long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on Aug. 2, 1946. Chicken Legs worked for the City of Glen Cove for 33 years.
Preceded in death by his parents Michael Renaldo and Florence Frislid-Stango, stepfather Alphonso Stango, and beloved sister Ina King-Nodine.
Herbert “Bud” Winslow, Jr, 85, of Locust Valley, died on Oct. 19, 2014 surrounded by his family. Loving husband of the late Nancy. Devoted father of Nancy (Peter) Dyer, Tracey Taylor, Thomas (Kim) Winslow and Susan (Michael) Parente. Proud grandfather to Torre, Haydon, Adam, Nicholas, Christian and Jordan. William W. Thomas Jr. of Glen Head passed away on Oct. 19, 2014 at the age of 72. He was the loving husband of Mary-Lou “Muffin” Thomas for the past 47 years and devoted father to William W. Fanny C. Luke of Locust Valley and Manhattan died on Oct.16, 2014, at age 91. Fanny was born in Boston in 1923, a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Louis Curtis, formerly of Chestnut Hill and Manchester, Mass. She was married in 1955 and is survived by her devoted husband David L. Luke, III, her sisters Polly, Kay, and Laura, many nieces, nephews, and other equally devoted family members. She graduated from the Westover School in 1941. In 1943 she joined the U.S. Navy Waves, and after training, she was involved in the final modification of combat aircraft for U.S. Naval Forces in the Pacific Theatre, including the very planes which the man she later married was then flying in combat. She attended Radcliff College, receiving a B.A. in 1951. She worked briefly for Houghton, Mifflin and for Harvard University, and then moved to New York. She devoted nearly 12 years to teaching young children at the Episcopal School. She was active in her church in Locust Valley. Private burial in the Locust Valley Cemetery; a memorial service was held at St. John’s of Lattingtown, Locust Valley.
