George Michael Rivera, age 66, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30. Funeral held at Moore Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. George was born in New York City on May 22, 1948, to Lino and Mary Ann Rivera. He served his country with a distinguished telecommunications career in the United States Air Force lasting 22 years, serving in the United States, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Germany. After his retirement from the military in 1996, he and his wife Heasook and his daughter Vanessa moved to Arlington and he recently retired as a telecommunications specialist with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department. He was a Christian and a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington. He dearly loved his church and his family, and leaves many friends through the relationships with his fellow Christians and co-workers. Lewis A. Lew was a long-time reporter and writer for the Cincinnati Post and the Cincinnati Enquirer, as well as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Journalism. He was a lover of rain forests, baseball, friends and family, birds and animals, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lew passed away Aug. 9, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at age 64. He attended Glen Cove High School (class of ‘68) and the University of Cincinnati (Class of ‘73). June F. Wylie passed away on Sept. 1. She was born Florence June Foster in Locust Valley, N.Y. on June 1, 1921. June attended school in Locust Valley and graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1938.
During World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served at Naval Headquarters on Church Street in New York City until the end of the war. She returned to Glen Cove and married the late James W. Wylie in December 1945.
