Fay M. Kastan, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 28, 2014, at age 79. Successful proprietor of Kastan Realty for more than 30 years. Enjoyed traveling, boating and was a tireless worker who set the tone for women in the work force in this day and age. She was a good provider for her three children and her family came first. Lewis A. Moores, beloved husband of Diane Menendez Moores (Cincinnati, OH), loving brother of Saralee (Barry) Keegan of Cobleskill, NY and Carol Moores Simons of Westbury, NY; loving uncle of Pamela (Patrick) McGeough and Nicole (Danny) Schieferstein and great-uncle of Grace and Riley McGeough and Alice and Catherine Schieferstein. Lew was a long-time reporter and writer for the Cincinnati Post and the Cincinnati Enquirer, as well as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Journalism. He was a lover of rain forests, baseball, friends and family, birds and animals, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lew passed away Aug. 9, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at age 64. He attended Glen Cove High School (class of ‘68) and the University of Cincinnati (Class of ‘73). Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Lew’s life on Saturday, Sept. 13, 3 to 5:30 p.m., at 44 Land Lane, Westbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, which Lew covered as a Cincinnati newspaper feature writer for more than a decade. June F. Wylie passed away on Sept. 1. She was born Florence June Foster in Locust Valley, N.Y. on June 1, 1921. June attended school in Locust Valley and graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1938.
During World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served at Naval Headquarters on Church Street in New York City until the end of the war. She returned to Glen Cove and married the late James W. Wylie in December 1945.
Julia Bermudez, 88, of Glen Cove, passed away in Coral Springs on Aug. 13, 2014. Loretta G. (Capobianco) Lotz, age 95. Born June 7, 1919, deceased Aug. 16, 2014. Predeceased by husband William (Bill) Lotz and her four siblings and their spouses: Angelo and Margie Capobianco, Daniel and Lucy Capobianco, Albert and Madeline Capobianco and Erwin (Hank) and Rose (Capobianco) Holst.
She is survived by her daughters Georgia A. Lotz of Dallas, Texas and Patricia A. Presnell (Craig Albrecht) of Fort Pierce, Florida, as well as three step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 16 loving nieces and nephews, especially her devoted godsons Tiny and Perry.
