Mary Lou Trousdell, of Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of Glen Cove, died on Nov. 13, 2010. Wife of Thomas. Mother of Thomas (Claudia), Joyce Dunn (Patrick) and Tracy Trousdell. Grandmother of Thomas, Jennifer, Alyssa, Emily, Scott, Dylan, Ian and Joseph. Sister of Louis Johnson and the late Patricia Harris, Albert and Charles Johnson and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Lou retired after 13 years of service as a police dispatcher for the Lake Success Police Department. Mary Lou was active in her retirement by being a hospice volunteer, avid golfer and a Red Cross volunteer. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Carl Bernard Larsen, proud veteran of WWII, formerly of Queens and Bayville, passed away on Oct. 8, 2010 in Annapolis, MD, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Morris) Larsen, father of Carl B. Larsen (Tulinda) and Kim Larsen (Jim Etkin). Treasured grandfather of Bryce Larsen, Jenny Larsen and Abe Etkin. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Waterman First Class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard in the Pacific Ocean and was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Annapolis. Memorial services will be on Nov. 27 at Seawane Golf and Country Club, Hewlett Harbor, NY.
William L. Mahon, a longtime resident of Glen Cove, died on Nov. 11, 2010 at his home at the age of 97. Born in Oyster Bay, he was the son of William Mahon and Margaret McCarthy Mahon. He graduated from Glen Cove High School.
After graduating high school, Bill worked at various jobs including that of a tree surgeon with his brother-in-law until he entered the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943. He served until 1946 at which time he was honorably discharged.
After returning from the war, he took a position with Lewis Oil Company in Port Washington where he continued employment for 40 years before retiring as service manager in 1978. He continued to work as a heating/air-conditioning consultant for many years after retirement.
