Gloria B. Howard, age 93 years, long time resident of Sea Cliff and Glen Cove, born in Great Neck, died on Aug. 1, 2010. Wife of the late Dr. William E. Coverley and Francis G. Howard. Mother of W. Scott Coverley (Linda) and Cheryl Coverley. Grandmother of Scott Jr. and Trevor Coverley (Erica). Great-grandmother of Trevor and Hunter . Sister of Patricia Darr (Bill) and brother J. Edward Breuer (Sandy). She was a member of the women’s division of the Salvation Army. a real estate broker for many years in Sea Cliff. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Memorial service Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 235 Glen St., Glen Cove. There will be an early lunch afterwards at 32 Pearsall Ave., Glen Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mary Haven Center of Hope, 51 Terryville Rd., Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776

Jeanne Hitt Chalaire was born in Columbus, OH, in 1925, grew up in Westerville, OH, with her three siblings, took courses in fashion design and advertising in Detroit and then moved to New York City as a fashion advertising illustrator. She went on to become a nurse/doctor’s assistant for many years and then became the revered teacher/director/owner of the Village Pre-School in Sea Cliff for 25 years.

Obituary: Eva Gach

Eva Gach
Eva Gach, a resident of Glen Cove and Roslyn, passed away on Aug. 13, 2010 at age 94. Her fortitude, strength and elegance were assets in a remarkable life and were recognized by all who knew her. Born in Budapest, Hungary, she endured the hardships of WWII and lived in Beirut, Lebanon before emigrating to the USA in 1952. She was an accomplished equestrian in her youth; she spoke five languages and was a regionally recognized bridge player. She was a major influence in her husband’s successful art career; they had been married for 57 years and lived in Roslyn Heights. She is survived by daughter Susie Peelle; son Peter; grandchildren, Michael, Beau, Christopher and Evan Peelle, Drew and Eve Xanthopoulos; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter Eva Xanthopoulos and husband George Gach. Arrangements entrusted to Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Bryant Ave., Roslyn on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. Interment private.
