Edward J. Pfeiffer, 82, of Granby, CT, passed suddenly on April 25, 2009. Ed was a Glen Head resident for 17 years and raised his family there. He was originally from the Philadelphia, PA area where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Catherine Roache Pfeiffer. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served during WWII. He later attended Villanova University, graduating with a B.S. in economics. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years in the Philadelphia area as well as in Glen Head and Glenwood Landing.
Randy J. Hanlon, of North Massapequa, formerly of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 4, 2009. Son of Joseph. Brother of Robbie, Rick, Rusty, Roger, Billy and David. Companion of Grace Nunziata. Liberino Manno, of Locust Valley, died on Aug. 1, 2009 at age 57. Husband of Dionisia. Father of Guido (Allison), Immacolata, Alfredo and Sergio. Son of Immacolata and the late Guido. Rose Gawrych, of Glen Cove, formerly of Floral Park, died on July 31, 2009. Wife of Joseph H. Sr. Mother of Christine and Capt. Joseph H. Jr. (Nancy). Faith McKay Wolf, of Glen Head, died on July 30, 2009 at the age of 99. Faith was born on Dec. 19, 1909 in Norwich, CT. She spent most of her life on Long Island. In 1988 she was predeceased by her husband, Norman T. Wolf. Faith was active in civic and church affairs, receiving the Bishop Cross for Parochial Service, a life member of the auxiliary of the North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove and former board member of the Nassau County Women’s Division of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her son Thompson (Susan) Wolf; her granddaughter Karen (David) Jarnagin; her great-grandchildren, Reagan Sue and Ryan. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1579 Northern Blvd., Roslyn on Aug. 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private in the Cloister Garden of Trinity Church. If desired, contributions may be made to Trinity Church or the Salvation Army.
