Mary Barbara (“Mary Ann”) Redis, age 71, died Jan, 23, 2010 after a valiant struggle with lung cancer surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends. Daughter of the late Kathleen and John Maher. Wife of the late Carl Redis. Mother of Michael J. Volpe (Eileen), Elizabeth Catanzano (Kerry), Tara Volpe, Philip J. Volpe (Sylvia) and John F. Volpe (Mario); Grandmother to Kelly, Mathew, Marissa, Danielle, Kerry Jr., Katie, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Max, Isaac Alexander, “Eli.” Great-grandmother to Lexi. Sister and in-law of John Maher Jr., Joan Benzinger (Andy), Kathleen Griffenkranz, the late Philip Maher, Anne Buckler, James Maher (Mary), Elizabeth McGinty, Donald Maher (Karen), Barbara Uhlich (Arthur) and Ronald Dess. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
Born Sept. 25, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, Mary Ann eventually moved with her mother, father and nine siblings to Glen Cove before marrying Joseph Volpe where she raised their five children. She worked in the local community and served for a number of years with the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce in an administrative capacity. She married Carl Redis in August 1977. Mary Ann was an active member of the Glen Cove Community Center and she will be forever missed by her friends and neighbors at the Glen Pearsall apartments where she lived the last years of her life in complete happiness serving on various committees, sitting poolside for days on end and traveling the world with her friends from Glen Pearsall and the Senior Center.

Michael D. Bellafatto, of Glen Head, died on Jan. 14, 2010. Robert Harley Joseph Cunningham, 77, of Sanguine St., died on Jan. 1, 2010 in the McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC. He was born in Glen Cove, a son of the late Thomas and Katherine Lockwood Cunningham.
Surviving are his wife Catherine Ann Cunningham; son Robert “Bob” Cunningham and wife Barbara of Sunset Beach; daughters, Linda Morse and husband John of Snellville, GA, and Jean Bausmith and husband William of Hopewell, NJ; brother Joseph Cunningham and wife Patricia of Glen Cove; sisters, Marie Mernin of E. Meadow and Ellen Glozek and husband Edward of Glen Cove; and six grandchildren, Heather, Andrew, Kelley, Patrick, Billy and Katie.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 5 at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church. Inurnment in the church columbarium.

Florence (Palumbo) Cittadini, 93, of Woodbury, CT died Jan. 16, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife the late Theodore Cittadini. Mrs. Cittadini was born March 12, 1916 in Jamaica, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Dominica (Campinelli) Palumbo. She resided in Woodbury for 25 years, previously living on Long Island. She loved to sew and was expert at cooking Chinese and Italian foods as well as having been a world traveler.
She leaves two sons, Theodore Freedell of Nevada and Robert Cittadini of Portland, OR; and a daughter Elaine Dellaratta of Middlebury; a brother Peter Palumbo of Long Island. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Michael and Leo; and a sister Anna Licitra.

Yolanda Cardone (nee Clemente). Wife of the late Alfred. Mother of Peter, Maria, Jeanine and Chistopher Duvally and the late Alfred. Grandmother of Michael and Jacqueline.
She was a Catholic school teacher for 32 years at St. Aidan’s in Williston Park. Yolanda was a loving inspiration to her family and students and a thoughtful and caring friend and neighbor in the hamlet of Bellerose. She was dedicated to her work and community and gave of herself unselfishly.
