Helen Mary Senesky, a lifelong resident of Sea Cliff, died quietly at her home on March 1, 2013. A graduate of Sea Cliff High School, the State University of New York at New Paltz, and C. W. Post College, Helen taught first grade at George Washington School and was principal of the Marion Delaney Elementary School, in West Hempstead, for 44 years. At her retirement she received commendations from both President Bush and then County Executive Thomas Gulotta. She continued to receive Christmas cards from former students as recently as last year. Following her retirement in 1989, Helen volunteered her time at the Sea Cliff Village Library and was active for many years at Saint Boniface Martyr church, also in Sea Cliff. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Sczesnak, her devoted cousin, Janice Marcin; and her nephews Jack (Linda) and Kurt (Marilyn) Senesky and Edward and Marc (Thomasine) Sczesnak. Her grandnieces and nephews include Sarah Dolfin; Matthew Senesky; and Alexander, Andrew, David, Elizabeth, Jillian, and Amelia Sczesnak. Visiting at Whitting Funeral Home. Myrtle Rocco of Glen Cove. formerly of Baldwin, died on Feb. 28, 2013 at age 104. She was a commercial artist in the advertising field. Wife of the late Joseph. Rita M. Doxey passed away on Feb. 10, 2013 at the age of 89. As a former School Sister of Notre Dame she was principal of Our Lady of Peace in Lordship, CT. She received a master’s degree in administration from Fairfield University. She is survived by sisters Patricia Zobrouski, Clare Maxey and brother Edmund (Diane). She was pre-deceased by a sister Joan Cuddy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were made by Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home. Mass was conducted at St. Patrick R.C. Church and interment was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brookville.

Frank J. Jr. “Frankie” Meiners, formerly of Glen Head and Hicksville, died on Jan. 31, at age 60. Son of Terry and Frank Sr. Brother of John (Gail), Annette Grimes (Jim) and Douglas (Lisa). Uncle of Tom, Mary, Vicki, Diana, Mia, Coco and Rocco. Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force. He was an avid golfer and worked as a house painter. Mary Naber Burns of Seal Beach, California, formerly of Glen Cove and Rockville Centre, died Jan. 24, at age 95. Beloved wife of the late Bob Burns. Loving mother of Jeff, Tom, James (deceased), Mary Anne, and Cathy Burns. Mary and Bob later moved outside Richmond, Virginia, where they enjoyed many years of hobby farming on their eight acres of beautiful rural countryside. Eventually Mary moved to Southern California for her final years to be with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
