Loretta Enrichetta Giampaolo, (Feb 21, 1934 – Aug 14, 2012), known to her family as Aunt Loretta, passed away on the morning of August 14, 2012 at the age of 78. Although her last place of residence was Spring, TX, where she lived with her brother, Anthony, and his wife, Gay, she was a longtime resident of Glen Cove, NY and always considered it her home. She lived her childhood and early adult life in a house built by her grandfather, an Italian immigrant known fondly as “Big Papa,” on a street filled with close friends and family. This street was the setting for many of her favorite stories; the lives of those she loved in “The Orchard.” Loretta attended nurses training at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, received a degree at Adelphi University and worked as a nurse at the Long Island Jewish Hospital and, for many years, in Great Neck as a nurse and office manager for Drs. Kurtz, Covey and Feinberg. Along with family and nursing, Aunt Loretta valued her faith most of all. She was a member of St. Rocco’s Parish for many years and never missed a Sunday Mass. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincenzo and Rose Giampaolo, and her niece, Lisa Ross. She is survived by her brother Anthony, his wife Gay, their three sons Vince, Frank and Gary and her great-nieces and nephews Amanda, Anna, Carly, Riley and Nicholas. Visitation held at the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home. Mass held at the Church of St. Rocco RC. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
