Thomas F. Quinn, 85, of Clermont, Fla., passed away on July 27, 2014 at home under hospice care. Born in Bronx and raised in Queens Village, he moved to Clermont in 1996 from Huntington Station, Long Island. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Marines, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont. Thomas is predeceased by his parents, William and Rosa Quinn (Fabietti) and brother William Quinn and sister-in-law, Joan Quinn. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ellen Butler Quinn; one son, William (Karyn); three daughters, Catherine Quinn (Michael Fitzpatrick), Jean Quinn (Craig Rustici) and Caroline Rankin (Daniel); brother-in-law Charles Butler; 10 adoring grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was a graduate of Hofstra University and received graduate degrees from New York University and The New School. He taught history at Glen Cove High School for 25 years, in addition to coaching freshman football and the golf team.
Tom was an avid golfer and reader, New York Giants Fan, and classic movie lover. He enjoyed traveling and had a great sense of humor.
A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont.
