Letter: First Sea Cliff Golf Tournament Was A Great Success!

Banking on the fact that Sea Cliff and its surrounding neighbors would embrace the ridiculous idea of a three-hour round of golf through its parks, ball fields and even private properties (over 40, in fact), we put it together and it worked! Eighteen hundred dollars was raised for the Sea Cliff Library and another $300 for the Sea Cliff Fire Dept. Associated Press liked the idea enough that they did a national story on it!

We’d like to thank all the local businesses for their generous support: The guys at Glen Floors, who got the ball rolling, Armani Exchange/Steve Grapstein, Arata’s Deli, B Browns Kitchen/Deli, Banfi Vintners/Charlie Dellavecchia, Bernard’s Market, CVS, Alan Geller, Daniel Gale/Marilyn Jenny, Sherlock Holmes/ Terry Sciubba, Harmonious Homes, Ena’s of Sea Cliff, Harry/G&H Auto, Gallagher’s Pub, G E Pickering Co., Glen Cove Beer Distributors, Little People Day Care, Long Island Awards Gallery, North Shore Farms, Holly Robilotti Window Treatments, Dave Santoro/Roots Rest., The Korean Market, Sea Cliff Bagel Company, Starbucks, The Training Station, Thyme Square Diner-Grille, Il Villagio Pizza Rest., Mayor Bruce Kennedy, Marianne Lennon, Pat Guy and the wonderful folks at Glen Cove Golf Car. Special thanks are also extended to John Lennon, Kevin Angliss, Chris Roberto, Eddie Brennan, Anna AKA The Walking Lady, Jim Foote and John (Chumley) Canning.

And now, a quick word about an amazing young man from Sea Cliff, who, along with his friends, Zach, Mike and Nick, came up with this in the first place. Though he is currently on his sea tour with Maritime College, and wasn’t able to be present for the tournament, his mighty spirit was felt with each double bogey throughout that entire day. With this latest accomplishment he has firmly secured his legacy at North Shore High School (class of ‘08) as an innovative, dashing and charismatic rogue, serving as an inspiration to fellow friends and students and to countless others of little or no importance.

He is Sean Duffy—Patriot, Yachtsman and all around rascal. It is with bated breath, that we, a grateful community, anxiously await his return.
