Can’t I just say: you know her…vote for her? Really, who doesn’t know Amy Beyer? Who doesn’t know about her undying dedication to our schools and therefore to our children and our community?
Well, I for one know Amy quite well. Aside from the seven years our children spent in school together, I had the pleasure of serving on the BOE with her for three years. During this time it became clear to me what an asset Amy is to our community. She clearly has the best interest of our students as her priority and it is evident in the action she takes, but even more importantly, she sees the bigger picture. She is ever vigilant in her quest to manage our taxes, while continuing to provide our children with a quality education. She has spearheaded many efforts to control the ever-increasing cost of educating our children. Amy has been a leader in this particular area, even among other school boards. She has built strong, important bonds with other school districts, enabling her to expand her knowledge and increase the voice of our district. She is politically active in our district, but also in other districts as well as at the local and state government levels. She is a voice of reason and intelligence. She is open to listening to all points of view, and considers these before making any decisions. In her three years as president of the board, I found her to be an excellent leader. Very open to public comment, always interested in the community’s point of view, and actively seeking the same. To put it succinctly, she is an advocate for all that is right and best for our students and she is relentless in her pursuit of this, in the most fiscally responsible way. I have complete confidence in Amy’s abilities, and although I might question her sanity in giving another three years of her life to us, I am ever grateful and thankful to her for doing so. We could not be in better, safer or sounder hands and in this economic environment, that’s saying a lot. A vote for Amy Beyer, is a vote for intelligent, thoughtful, educated leadership!
