Letter: To Friends and Neighbors From SAGE

“Does my charitable donation really make a difference?”

The SAGE Foundation, which consists entirely of an all-volunteer board, promises that your generosity will make a difference in the daily lives of so many of our neighbors, relatives and friends and, hopefully, someday, in your life.

The mission of the SAGE Foundation is to assist the Glen Cove Senior Center in pursuing and providing the highest quality of programs and services for senior citizens in Glen Cove and the surrounding communities.

Through fundraising, grant writing, outreach and advocacy, the SAGE Foundation supports the Center, helping to sustain weekly health screenings and consultations from the Visiting Nurse Association, Lifelong Learning Seminars, daily care for the frailest of our seniors and much more.  Some of our members seek the Center for companionship in their older years and for others the Center provides the stimulation of recreational and intellectual pursuits.  Others come to our Center because it is their only meal of the day, and the only chance they have to hear their own voice and the voices of others.

The Glen Cove Senior Center is currently serving two generations and taking over 1,000 registered participants 60 years of age and older through the journey of aging.  This is our way, as a community, to give back to those individuals who have built our neighborhoods, and our businesses, and supported our families.

With the rise in the number of baby boomers in this country, and the uncertainty in the level of funding from governmental sources due to the poor economy, it has become even more compelling for the SAGE Foundation to raise funds that allow the Glen Cove Senior Center to sustain the services it currently provides.

Please consider the seniors of Glen Cove and its surrounding communities when making a charitable contribution this year.  Your donation may be made payable to the Glen Cove SAGE Foundation, 130 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542.

If you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

president of SAGE Foundation and Carol Waldman,
