It is certainly with a tinge of sadness that I move on from the Record Pilot and Anton Community Newspapers. The past few years have been wonderful and I thank you all for reading this paper. It has been a pleasure to get to know all of you, to bring your important issues to light, and to share in your strong sense of community.
I wouldn’t leave at all if I couldn’t find the right replacement, so I am very happy that our longtime reporter, Jill Nossa, is moving into the position. Jill is a Glen Cove resident and has covered many community events as well as complex planning board, zoning board, school board and city council meetings. I look forward to reading her Record Pilot and feel good knowing that we are all in good hands.
It was an honor a few years ago to take the reigns here after great editors like Carla and Zefy, who put out such an admirable, informative local newspaper along with managing editor Cary Seaman. I was very impressed that the Record Pilot was such a big part of people’s lives and I did care very much about serving all your needs and doing my best to maintain their great tradition.
Thank you to Angela Anton and Cary Seaman for involving me in Anton’s publications. It is a crucial service they provide — fair and comprehensive coverage of important local issues that affect our lives — and, a celebration of the day-to-day local things that matter so much to us. These papers hold themselves to the highest standards and I was proud to be aboard. I will always hold the staff in the highest regard.
But, recently, a new opportunity has arisen for me and I had to make the hard decision to move on. I will always remember this experience with fond memories. Luckily, I will still be working to serve people in this area. I just felt for me it was time to get involved in a different way. So… a presto – see you soon!
