Beginning with my first encounter with Toni Labbate, I have been impressed with her dedication to our school district. I have seen her function in a variety of roles from mother to book club leader to member of the Legislative Action Committee (LAC). She also has served as treasurer of the Glen Head Parent Teacher Organization and is currently a member of the fifth grade graduation committee.
Toni is the first one to join a cause she believes in and consistently assumes a leadership role from the start. She is a standout leader with strong organizational skills and a level of confidence that enables her to speak comfortably in public. Toni’s two young children – one in elementary school, and one who will begin middle school in the fall – mean she has a long term commitment to serving the district. Her experience with the LAC, and the complex and arduous efforts of that committee to cope with the LIPA plant closing, has prepared her to deal with the challenging issues and budget constraints that our district is currently facing. Her unbridled spirit and enthusiasm for our schools, as well as her desire to ensure that each student receive a quality education, simplify my vote on May 15.
I have been a member of the North Shore community for over 15 years. With one child in college, one graduating from North Shore High School this June and one moving up to the NS Middle School in September, I am proud to be a member of this community and feel strongly about our need to continue to ensure the highest quality of education for our children. Toni Labbate will work harder than anyone I know to accomplish this goal.
