Delia delivered another no-hitter in last week’s Record Pilot applauding the Long Islanders who called for legislation aimed at stopping prescription drug abuse.
Delia is one of the few legislators in either county to go on record in a public way to expose the drug epidemic that is taking the lives of so many of our young.
As a previous member of the Glen Cove School Board it reminds me of the parents who worked on the “Ok Not to Drink” picnic at Morgan Park which drew almost 2,000 local residents.
Seems this might be a great time for a revival....and even bring back past emcee, now councilman Tony Jimenez, along with the entertainment, free food, T-shirts, and some great speakers.
As a complement to the stop legislation just passed, we might want to encourage our schools to begin screening for drug users before they hire them…which is perfectly legal. Now already being done by one school in Suffolk County to reduce the risk to their students, Glen Cove has an opportunity to do the same and take the lead in Nassau County.
