Annual S.T.O.P Program

I am pleased to announce that on Saturday, Sept. 29, Glen Cove will hold its annual S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Program at the Winters Brothers facility on Morris Avenue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. I am proud to let you know that participation in this recycling program has increased each year as the city has become more aggressive with advertising and the environmental consciousness of our community continues to grow. I encourage all residents to bring the items listed on the flyer you received at home for proper disposal.

If you did not receive a flyer, you may contact the public works department at 676-4402 for a list of acceptable items for these programs, or visit the city website

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

On Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Shore-LIJ Health System/ Glen Cove Hospital will be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to provide our community with an opportunity to prevent medication abuse, poisoning and theft by removing potentially dangerous prescription drugs from your homes. You can drop off your expired, unused, and unwanted medication at the hospital emergency room waiting area located on 101 St. Andrews Lane, free of charge, and no questions asked.

If you need more information, you can contact the Glen Cove Hospital at 674-7300 or visit the website for other participating agencies.
