On behalf of the Mutual Concerns Committee, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Carol Vogt, Ed Lieberman, Bruce Kennedy, and Kathleen DiResta for organizing the SpringFest on June 9. This event showcased the many volunteer organizations and artists in the community. The proceeds of this event were donated to Mutual Concerns.
A week later, the Art Exhibit and Live Auction was held at the Sea Cliff Yacht Club and once again, the proceeds were donated to our organization. I would like to thank the artists who donated their beautiful artwork, Nanette Bass, Robin Maynard, and Kathleen DiResta for arranging this event.
I am continually overwhelmed by the generosity of this community. They have embraced our little organization for many years now. We may be small, but we accomplish a great deal. The MCC provides a very popular lunch and social program for adults 60 and over. Aside from the nutritious lunches served twice weekly, we include programs such as yoga, cards, bingo, and provide blood pressure and health assessments once a month. We stock an emergency food center, which assists people in need regardless of age, sometimes on a weekly basis. At holiday time, we deliver food baskets to those in need. Many people do not realize that there are people that need help living in this area. Some are seniors living on a limited income, some are handicapped residents that need extensive help, some are single parents just trying to make ends meet, or some are people between jobs that just need a helping hand.
Frankly, we could not do what we do without the help of this wonderful community. We, and those we serve, deeply appreciate your generosity.
