Letter: Morgan Park Concerts A Success

As the 54th season of Morgan Park Summer Music Festival comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone who donated their time, talent and treasure into making the past summer such a success.

First, we would like to thank the City of Glen Cove, especially Mayor Ralph Suozzi and Parks and Recreation Director Darcy Belyea for all of their assistance in making sure that we had everything we needed for the concerts in Morgan Park.

Your staff is a tribute to your leadership. They were always responsive to our needs and did their best to make sure everything was ready to go on the weekends for the performances.

A special thanks to the Glen Cove Police Department, Special Police and EMS for their assistance with parking, crowd control and medical aid. You were always there when we needed you. We would also like to thank Fr. Daniel Nash, pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for making sure we had a rain location. Thankfully, we did not have to call on your hospitality this summer; but it was comforting to know that we had such a welcoming place to go if the weather did not cooperate. Thank you, also, to all of our local newspapers that kept the public informed about upcoming concerts.

We would like to give a big thank you to all of the individuals and businesses who so generously answered our pleas for financial assistance. For 54 years, Morgan Park Summer Music Festival has relied on and been supported by our friends and neighbors. Tax payer money is not used to bring this high caliber talent to the festival. We could not offer the programs that we do without your support. It is you who make the festival possible year after year.

Most of all, we would like to thank our faithful volunteers who were always there helping with fundraising, publicity, and hospitality and security at the park during the concerts. The volunteers also walk in the Memorial Day Parade and are a visible demonstration of our pride in what we strive to do for the betterment of Glen Cove’s quality of life.

We thank everyone who came to the concerts. It is rewarding to see so many happy faces in the crowd weekend after weekend. Thanks to your support, attendance at the concerts was better than ever.

Again, many thanks to all who made this year such a success. Over the winter months, the committee will be working hard planning the program for the 2013 season. We look forward to seeing you next July.

Marguerite Suozzi

Chairwoman, Morgan Park Summer Music Festival, on behalf of the committee
