Pee Wee White Cardinals News

On Sunday, Sept. 19, the Glen Cove Pee Wee White Cardinals traveled to Brentwood to take on the Brentwood Green Indians. Brentwood started on their own 40 yard-line, and after a touchdown run was negated by a holding call, Will Merkel recovered a Brentwood fumble and the Cardinals took over on the Brentwood 45 yard-line. Anthony Schettino gained 4 yards on a fullback dive, but that was the only positive yardage for the Glen Cove offense on this drive and Brentwood took over on their 45 yard-line. On their first play of their second possession, Brentwood ran a sweep left and scored a touchdown. The extra point was good and Brentwood led 7-0. The rest of the first half was a defensive battle and Brentwood had the lead at halftime.

The Brentwood Green Indians were just too much for the Pee Wee White Cardinals to handle in the 2nd half as they scored twice to come away with a 20-0 victory. Although they gave up 20 points, the Pee Wee White Cardinals’ defense played hard. Oliver Palone, Will Merkel, Michael Cristofari, Philip D’Amico, Gabriel Charles, and Josue Cruz and their teammates all hustled and put in a very good defensive effort.

The next game for the Pee Wee White Cardinals will be on Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. versus Rosedale at Glen Cove City Stadium.
