The 11U Glen Cove Cougars travel baseball team finished the spring season with an overall 10-2 record earning first place honors in the National Junior Baseball League. The team consists of Kevin Antoniotti (OF/3B/P), Eric Belyea (1B), Jonathan Capobianco (3B/P/1B), Andrew Gerin (OF), Connor Hehn (P/OF), Christopher Kasparian (1B/P), Michael Manzione (P/C), Joseph Martino (2B), Brian O’Connell (OF), Christopher Palmieri (OF), Michael Payton (OF), Thornton Scott (SS/P), Kevin Shannon (C/OF/SS), Joseph Suozzi (2B/P/C).
The Cougars had strong pitching led by starters Connor Hehn and Michael Manzione, with solid bullpen support from Kevin Antoniotti, Jonathan Capobianco, Christopher Kasparian, Thornton Scott and Joseph Suozzi. The team pitching held opponents to an overall .250 batting average.
The Cougars had plenty of run support, outscoring their opponents 2 to 1 with a team slugging and on-base percentage over .500. The hitting arsenal was led by Jonathan Capobianco, Michael Manzione, Thornton Scott and Joseph Suozzi. The defense has played a big role this spring season, led by outfielders Kevin Antoniotti, Andrew Gerin, Brian O’Connell, Christopher Palmieri and Michael Payton, along with a solid infield of Eric Belyea, Christopher Kasparian, Joseph Martino and Kevin Shannon.
Manager Thom Capobianco and Coaches David Hehn and Tom Scott have been very pleased thus far with the team’s efforts both offensively and defensively as they look forward to the summer season tournaments. The Cougars expressed gratitude towards all the parents for their continued support as well as the Glen Cove Junior Baseball League.
