Congratulations to Amanda Sobhy for being selected by Glamour Magazine as one of their “21 Amazing Young Women of the Year.” Amanda was recognized for being the first American to be a world champion in squash and for winning four professional tournaments by the age of 16.
The ceremony took place on Monday, Nov. 7 at Carnegie Hall. The professional women honored consisted of Jennifer Lopez (woman of the year), Laura Bush and her daughters, Chelsea Handler, Gabrielle Giffords, Arianna Huffington, Lea Michele, Tory Burch, Cindy Sherman, Esraa Abdel Fattah and lifetime achievement winner, Gloria Steinem.
Amanda graduated last June from North Shore High School and is a freshman at Harvard University, where she plays number one for the women’s squash team.
