What a first game and it was league; the girls came out a little tentatively against Carey but played well enough for a 5–3 lead at half time. The girls took the second half by storm, 8–2 with the final score being a win 13–5.
The way they settled down and played their way was something to be proud of, with the double-teaming through the midfield and in the defensive end. Alison Abrams, Emily Durso, Lauren Dwyer and Sam DiPaola were key players. Selena Guastella won the majority of the centre draws in the second half allowing the team’s attack to set up and score.
Scorers were Alex Gerin, four goals and five assists; Gabby Morrocu four goals and one assist; Ariana Cavallone, three goals and one assist; Tori Durso, one goal and five assists; Selena Guastella, one goal; Lauren Dwyer one assist. Gillian Farnan made her first official start in goal and played very well indeed having seven saves. This really was a total team victory with all 20 girls seeing time on the field.
The girls play home on Thursday against Herricks and Friday away at Great Neck North.
