Glen Cove Chemist Vs. Lewis Oil

On Saturday, Oct. 13, Glen Cove Chemist played a hard fought game against Lewis Oil and emerged victorious 3 to 2. Both teams played hard on both sides of the ball.

Glen Cove Chemist had an offense that was led by Gabriel Barnhart, Aidan Martone and Harrison Velentzas. Together the boys created many scoring chances. Defensively the team was anchored by James Coelho, Ethan Graziosi and Szakary Calderon. The game was tied 2-2 for much of the final quarter until Ethan Graziosi broke free and scored the winning goal. Lewis Oil responded with an offensive surge that turned away by the strong Chemist defense.

Division 5B

Villagio Tanning Spa kept the good soccer play rolling with great efforts against Kornerstone Publik House and the Wounded Warriors. Good teamwork on the offense led to many goals by Christian Vanegas, Brandon Leibowitz, Owen Grennan and Brayan Villatoro. Martin Aarilla, Mason Kletter and Peter Musso played well defensively and offensively, keeping the pressure on the opposition. The “jack of all trades” gang, Will Casale, Nicholas Martone and Koorosh Leibowitz, played every position on the soccer field, and did especially well in goal.

Division 2B



Glen Cove Arena Taxi faced Greenberg & Greenberg, Attorneys at Law, in a highly anticipated rematch and Arena Taxi played an excellent game. Jayson Romero tended goal for the first three quarters and did not allow Greenberg to score. Declan Callahan stayed strong defensively keeping the ball out of the scoring area with big kicks back toward Greenberg’s net. Arena Taxi’s offense really shined in this game.

In the first quarter, the offensive trio of Jack Spoto, Christopher Gielbeda and Noah Kopetic displayed amazing passing with numerous shots on goal. Greenberg’s goalie did a great job; however, Kopetic scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Gielbeda. Kopetic landed another shot in the net after a dropped ball by the referee.

In the second and third quarter, Arena Taxi’s offensive attack continued on Greenberg’s net with steady shots by Matthew Basil and Charlie Centeno. Gielbeda also shot the ball past the goalie after a throw in from Kopetic and Spoto scored the fourth goal of the game after a precise throw in from Basil. Kopetic played keeper the fourth quarter and after repetitive blocks Greenberg’s John Michael Ktistakis got one past the goalie for a final score of 4-1.

Division 3B

The PBA Bulls took on Glen Key Realty the other day in an exciting game. Both teams played well and were great sports helping each other when one was knocked down. The PBA team has enjoyed a winning season so far under Coach Bonnie. Special credit goes to Ryan, Gwin, Joel, Enrique, Emanuel, Braxton and Jonathan, all of whom were showing amazing footwork and goal scoring.

Division 4G

Greenberg and Greenberg took on L Martone & Sons the other day in a great match. Clara Doyle played a great first half as goalie and Alyssa Schmitt had a great game as halfback scoring from outside the goalie box with a great shot. Mary Martone added three goals. Nicole Serrano was awesome in goal in the second half, stopping all shots.

Division 1-2 G

Telstar took on Progressive Orthotics and Telstar played a great game. The girls have had a great season so far, winning all their contests and more importantly, working hard and having fun. Mattie, Taylor, Ava, Olivia, Morgan and Lola have led the scoring and Kimberly has been a consummate team player. Coach Donna would like to thank Nicole and Chris for their help.
