Glen Cove Law Firm To Sponsor  30th Annual Women’s Run

The leading Glen Cove law firm of Mejias, Milgrim & Alvarado has signed on once again to be the presenting sponsor of the 30th annual edition of the Runner’s Edge Long Island Women’s 5 Kilometer Run, which will be held on the roads of Farmingdale on Saturday, July 13.

Women of all ages and levels of ability are invited to participate in the run. Among those who will be participating this year is Randi Milgrim, a partner in Mejias, Milgrim & Alvarado, who has set her sights on scoring well in front of her 2012 finishing time of 35:02.

Every entrant in the 5K will receive a top quality technical shirt especially designed for women.  The run will be followed by post-race refreshments, giant post-race merchandise giveaways, and a free massage.

Race management will be provided by the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC).  GLIRC’s Debbie Blair will once again be serving as the race director.

Computerized scoring and results will be provided by Nikita Dorcinvil of Just Finish, Inc. using the RFID Timing System with the chip built right into the bib number. The 5K run will serve once again as the Women’s 5 Kilometer Championship of the Long Island Association of USA Track & Field.

The 5K Run will be preceded by the free “Little Women’s 1/4 Mile Fun Run” for future Olympians under the age of 12, and each finisher in the Fun Run will receive a medal when she crosses the finish line.

Proceeds of this year’s run will once again be distributed to The Opening Word, a very special program administered by the Dominican Sisters that provides education and job training to poor uneducated women in Huntington Station, Amityville and Wyandanch.

So mark your calendars now to be in Farmingdale on July 13 for the Runner’s Edge Long Island 5 Kilometer Women’s Run/Walk.  You can register online ($22; $18 for GLIRC members) at or call 516-349-7646 for hard copy entry forms or more information.  There is a 50 percent discount for runners and walkers under the age of 16 who pre-register.  Day-of-race entry is $25.
