Athletes Inducted Into Wall Of Fame

Glen Cove High School recently held its first-ever Athletics Wall of Fame Induction ceremony in the school’s athletic wing.

Wall of Fame inductees are varsity players who have been selected as All-County in their respective sport. This year, 12 Glen Cove students were named All-County, earning themselves an eight-by-ten photograph mounted and framed on the storied wall near the gymnasium. The Wall of Fame dates back to its first inductee in 1974.

“It is with great pride that I stand before you here today, with the finest student athletes from the 13-14 school year,” said Glen Cove Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Health Denise Kiernan. “I believe that all 12 All-County student athletes are triple-impact competitors who will continue to become better at everything they do.”

The inductees and their respective sports are:

Mike Burrell, Football

Rashawn White, Football

Matthew Pemberton, Air Rifle

Taylah Hudson, Basketball

Grace Brady, Basketball

Eduardo Montecer, Wrestling

Kiana Watson, Winter Track

Josh Figueroa, Baseball

Kendall Young, Softball

Gabby Heenan, Softball

Billy Daniele, Track and Field

Tim Hogan, Track and Field

During the ceremony, the coaches cited some of the students’ achievements and stats, which included new school records in Track and Field, Winter Track and Glen Cove’s now all-time leading scorer in Girls Basketball, Taylah Hudson.
