Glen Cove Pony White Beats East Meadow

In the first round of the playoffs, the Glen Cove Pony White hosted East Meadow and won with a score of 26 to 6. East Meadow kicked off to start the game. Nicholas Lucchese received the ball and ran 70 yards for a touchdown. Ryan Aughavin ran in the extra point.

Before the end of the first quarter, Lucchese scored again after long runs by John Murphy, Frankie Castiglione, Ryan Aughavin and Fernando Aguilar. The extra point was no good and the score was 13 to 0. On East Meadow’s next possession, Jack Giovanetti intercepted their first pass. After passes from quarterback, Lucchese to Giovanetti, Castiglione and Murphy, Castiglione punted the ball. This ended the first quarter.

On an East Meadow punt, the ball was blocked by Sean Cunningham and Jake Cirella. After runs by Elijah Ambles and Ryan Aughavin, quarterback Nicholas Lucchese, avoided numerous tackles by scrambling back and forth and then threw a 40-yard pass to Frankie Castiglione for another touchdown. The extra point failed. Since Glen Cove was now up by three touchdowns, East Meadow was able to choose four of its players to remove from the game. The players were Lucchese, center, Alex Venturino, Jack Peguillan and Elijah Ambles.

The scoring was made possible by the great blocking throughout the game. Austin Puco, Matthew Aufiero, Fernando Aguilar, Alex Venturino, Jack Peguillan, Jack Giovanetti, Danny Neice, Brandon Aviles, Kobe Thompson, Camrohn Pittman, Sean Cunningham and John Michael Rhein all played hard and provided great blocking. Defense did not let East Meadow get far throughout the game. Fernando Aguilar played tough all day. He had numerous tackles, as well as Jack Peguillan, Danny Neice, Matthew Aufiero, Jake Cirella, Sean Cunningham, Jack Giovanetti, Howard Woods, and Kobe Thompson Also tough on defense were Quentin Palone, Brandon Aviles, John Michael Rhein, Camrohn Pittman, Giovanni Vaiu, Elijah Ambles, Nicholas Lucchese, Frankie Castiglione, Sean Davis, and Jeremy Zeineth.

Danny Neice did a great job at quarterbck, replacing Lucchese while he was out.

East Meadow did score late in the third quarter. The extra point failed. This allowed the four players back in the game. After numerous runs by Aguilar, Ambles and Aufiero and passes to Giovanetti and Castiglione, Fernando Aguilar ran the ball in for another touchdown. The extra point was scored by Jack Peguillan.

The game ended with Glen Cove victorious with a score of 26 to 6. Glen Cove will play Broad Channel in the super bowl next Sunday.
