Varsity Softball Going Strong

North Shore Lady Vikings had a great week bringing them 8-2, they had two wins this week against Jericho and Locust Valley and a loss to Roslyn. After last week’s  crazy 15 and up scoring, this week was back in range. In the Jericho game, Ali Grande went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and Hanna Hacker pitched a 5 inning 1-hitter bringing North Shore to a 5-2 win.  Losing to Roslyn 3-2, Regan Falk had a homerun in the 5th scoring the first run of the game.  At Locust Valley they won 2-0, Jackie Gioia had the first run of the game in the 5th and Christine Castiglione scored on Regan Falk’s bundt in the 6th. Hanna Hacker struck out 8 in 5 innings.

Golf - Positives And Negatives

Negative: the North Shore Golf Team is 0-2. Positive: the team shot well against two very tough teams. Positive: the team has 8 matches left to get things going in the other direction. The upcoming matches will be against Friends Academy and Great Neck South. Positive: a special thank you goes to the head golf professional Michael Shank and his staff for taking the time to work with our team and provide the boys with almost 3 hours of professional instruction. All the boys benefited from this experience.

Men’s Varsity Tennis Opening Week

The North Shore varsity tennis team opened the first week of action with a 1-2 record. Monday’s match against Plainview was a seesaw battle. Unfortunately, Plainview was a little too strong and defeated North Shore 2-5. The third doubles team of Ryan Kianofsky and Mitch Goidel and fourth doubles tandem of Joe Sacco and Jonathan Khani earned victories for the Vikings. The next day, the Vikings traveled across Long Island and visited Bellmore. In singles action, NS took 2 out of 3. Clark Ruiz and Alex Sacher earned their first varsity victories of the season at first and second singles. With home court advantage, Bellmore came together and took 3 out of 4 doubles matches including two three setters at first and third doubles. Bellmore came away with a 4-3 victory. Although the Vikings started 0-2, the team was gaining momentum. Losing 2-5, then 3-4, it was time to win 4-3. Sure enough that is what happened! North Shore defeated Locust Valley 4-3. All three singles matches went to the Vikings with Evan Fierstein winning his first match of the year at third singles. The team of Sacco and Khani again won and secured the team victory.
