On May 15 at Roslyn, senior Tara Brenner of Great Neck North defeated Maleka Davis of Freeport 11-7, 11-7 to win the Nassau County Championships for first singles. In the semifinals, Brenner was victorious over Valley Stream Central's Tina Beatty 11-4, 11-4. Brenner will attend The University of Pennsylvania in the fall.

On May 12, at Roslyn, the Blazers competed in the Conference Playoffs. Brenner ended her season at 14-0. The second doubles team of seniors Sophia Liu and Judy Liao placed fourth. The fourth doubles team of freshman Diana Myint and sophomore Christina Hsieh lost to the Roslyn team Sharadea Polavarapu and Jun Sussman, but placing second in the Conference Championships. Non-place winners from North came from the second singles which featured senior Tiffany Youdim. Freshman Roya Pedram played third singles. At first doubles, Tracey Blaine and Rebecca Mansuri are at juniors. The third doubles team is made up of juniors Debbie Liu and Liz Cho.

The badminton team is coached by Dee Marvullo who is also the women's athletic director. "We had 27 members on the team and this team was a pleasure to coach. I look forward to next year," commented Coach Marvullo.
