Great Neck North girls field hockey team, under coaches Cathy Behar and Joan Gruenbaum, defeated Clarke 3-0. Senior Diana Hochman opened the scoring with a goal about 20 minutes into the game. The goal was assisted by senior Stephanie Cohen. The Blazers erupted with two goals by Cohen within a seven-minute span. Both goals were assisted by Hochman. Senior goalie Rachel Lubert made five saves.

North lost a 2-0 contest at the hands of North Shore Sept. 23. "We had opportunities to score but did not score," commented Coach Gruenbaum. North defeated Seaford 2-1 Sept. 16. Hochmann scored both goals. The game win was scored with 15 minutes left in the game. Lubert made six saves. North opened their season with a dramatic 1-0 sudden death overtime win over Seaford. The game ended in a scoreless tie. In overtime, both teams play seven on seven. Lubert made eight saves. The record stands at 3-2.

North has 11 seniors on the team out of 14. Among the seniors are Desiree Sarraf, Alicia Webber, Jessica Sherman, Nikki Neal, Abby Maxwell, Randi Levine, Ida Lalazarian, Meenah Kim, Cohen, Hochman, Lubert. Erica Heiman and Julia Ostrover are the juniors and Lauren Zipes is the one sophomore. "We have a strong bond, and are motivated to do well. We have excellent camaraderie," commented Hochman, Levine and Sherman. Up next for the Blazers is a home contest against Carle Place Oct. 2. Diana Hochman and Meena Kim are the captains, and Randi Levine, Nikki Neal and Rachel Lubert are the co-captains.
