The 1998 Girls field Hockey team under Coaches Cathy Behar and Joan Gruenbaum ended their season with a tough first round playoff loss to Garden City by a score of 2-0. The Blazers were seeded fourth in Class B and had to face the Trojans seeded number 1. North and Garden City played to a 0-0 tie at the half. Garden City scored five minutes into the second half, and scored a second time 10 minutes later. The North senior goalie made 26 saves to the Garden City goalie who did not make a save. Garden City went on to win the county championships over Port Washington 3-0, and the state championships 1-0 over Lakeland.

North ended the conference season with an identical 2-0 loss to Garden City a week earlier. Lubert made 24 saves in that contest. North finished their season with 6-7-1 record. North earned victories over East Meadow, Seaford, Clarke, North Shore, Oyster Bay and Wheatley. North tied with Massapequa 1-1. North's leading goal scorers were senior Diana Hochman with five goals, followed by seniors Stephanie Cohen and Meena Kim each with four goals.

Coaches Behar and Gruenbaum commented on how wonderful this team was. "We had great leaders, and we all got along so well". There were many honors bestowed upon the team. Lubert earned All State. Eight Nassau County players earned the honor. Lubert made 200 saves this season which was tops in Nassau County. Lubert had a 93 percent save ratio also tops in Nassau.

Meena Kim also earned All County Honors. Senior Abby Maxwell earned All Conference. Hochman, and Senior Nikki Neil earned All League honors. Seniors Desiree Saraaf and Alicia Webber were awarded Exceptional Seniors. Meena Kim was awarded Scholar Athlete.

Eleven out of 14 members of the team were seniors. Other seniors are Ida Lalazarian, Jessica Sherman, and Randi Levine.

The returning varsity team is juniors Erica Heiman, Lauren Zipes, and Julia Ostrov. "This is a special team, one I will not forget soon" stated Coach Gruenbaum.
