PRIDE Survey ''Exaggerations'' Revealed
As several student delegates spoke up at the board of education's Sept. 25 meeting, it quickly became apparent that some of the results of the PRIDE survey reported at the last board meeting were exaggerated. Students reported that the student body as a whole was generally unaware of the importance of the survey, and many had, ''as a joke,'' given false answers, leaving the school district in a quandary as to whether or not there are safety concerns at North and South High. Both the students and police officers strongly stated that there is no violence, nor threat of violence, in Great Neck's high schools.

Residents Turn Out to "Give Their Regards..."
The public hearing held by the Park District on the Cohan property resembled a love fest more than a hearing, with over 500 residents turning out on a rainy, blustery evening to encourage the park district to "Go for it!" Park District Chairperson Ruth Tamarin and Commissioner William Dobkin after listening to 43 residents who spoke, all in support of acquiring the waterfront lot along with the submerged lot, adopted a resolution to proceed with steps to acquire the land.

Kings Point USMMA Weekly Sports Wrap-Up
Junior wide receiver Jay DeBruhl (Camden, SC) caught a total of nine passes for 141 yards, including three for touchdowns, in leading Kings Point to a 42-27 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute Saturday at WPI's Alumni Field. The Blue and Gray won their first game of the 2000 campaign and improved to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom Football Conference. The Mariners' offense gained a season-high 415 yards, coming from 127 rushing yards and 288 passing yards. The average gain per play was 6.6 yards.
