A smashingly successful season of Women's Indoor Tennis welcomes 42 top female athletes to the extraordinary ranks of Major League Champions at SPORTIME, formerly known as Roslyn Racquet Club. At every league orientation sportsmanship is top priority. One outstanding woman in each of the 15 leagues is nominated by their own league members to receive the prestigious Sportsmanship Award.

Newly renovated, fun and refreshing, SPORTIME at Roslyn proudly features its Fall 2000 Women's Leagues with 15 dynamic singles and doubles leagues running weekly on 12 Har-Tru clay courts. Hundreds of super players from Manhasset to Manhattan ace and deuce their days away working up a sweat, reducing stress and connecting with new tennis pals.

Many women enjoy the challenge of playing in both singles and doubles leagues every week. Partner doubles provides an excellent opportunity for friends to secure a socially active time together. Considering our hectic schedules, we rarely have the time to meet close friends as often as we wish. Friends frequently bring their youngsters to the SPORTIME Nursery for a play date of their own. While sporty moms heat up the courts, their Lil' Leaguers frolic for an hour or two. "We have a win-win situation when everyone benefits from the SPORTIME experience," notes League Director Karen Marlib Palevsky. "It is a pleasure seeing friends set a time to meet, compete and share a passion for SPORTIME tennis. Several leagues develop through the gathering of friends who play at similar tennis levels."

In addition to the championship and 2nd place trophies, Major League Tennis sportsmanship plaques were designed to honor one special woman in each league. Fellow league players were encouraged to nominate one individual who epitomized outstanding sportsmanship, court etiquette and honest, friendly competition. Fifteen women proudly accepted their unique awards. According to Karen, a resident of Manhasset Hills, "SPORTIME's leagues are exceptional in both the caliber of skilled players and the degree of sportsmanship exhibited on and off our courts. I continuously emphasize the importance of such courteous behavior as it only enhances the fun in a competitive environment."
