Great Neck South Middle School's boys and girls treack teams improved their records to 4-0, with victories over Herricks and Locust Valley on May 22. With more than half of the season finished, it was unprecedented that both teams had not lost a single meet.

The boys team was led by Charles Hershon, Liran Shachi, and James Stultz. Hershon were unbeaten in the shot put and competed successfully in the 55 meter dash and long jump. Shachi was the team's leading point scorer while competing in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, the 800 meter run, and the high jump. Stultz consistently won the 400 meter run and the long jump.

Other outstanding competitors were Tony Costas and Brian McArthur in the 1500 meters, Anish Parakh in the hurdles, and Parakh, Sean Yahudian, Michael Tommasello and Raphael Mahargolath in the 400 meter relay.

The girls team was led by Allison Luby, Simone Hill, and Theresa Pilero. Luby has not lost a 1500 meter race since entering the school in 1999. Hill is the team's leading scorer as an unbeaten competitor in the 200 meters and high jump. She is also an exceptional runner at 100 meters. Theresa Pilero always scores in the 400 and 800 meters and the shot put. At some meets she has swept each event.

Other outstanding athletes are Danielle Orville and Nicole List at the hurdles, Jessica Li and Erikka Vaughn at 100 meters, Endless Williams and Kemeshia Francis at 200 meters, Jackie Cucco at 400 meters, and Meredith Barash at 800 meters.
