Miriam Landesberg, a 35-year resident of Great Neck and an esteemed Hebrew teacher, died on Aug. 28, 2001. She was born in Jerusalem. Her family "Mann" dates back 11 generations. She worked for the Hebrew University in Israel and in New York and for the Israeli Mission to the UN with Abba Eben and Gideon Rafael. Beloved wife of the late Julius. Adored mother of Roy. Mother-in-law of Lydia Herzig Landesberg. Cherished grandmother of Stuart, Edward, Celia and Paige. Lois de Lyon, of Great Neck, formerly of Massapequa, died on Aug. 31, 2001. Mother of Renee de Lyon-Peiser and Peter de Lyon. Grandmother of two. George G. Kaplan, of Great Neck, died on Sept. 1, 2001. A CPA, he wrote a book on magic that has become a classic, The Fine Art of Magic. In 1995, he was named Magician of the Year by the parent Assembly of the Society of American Magicians. Husband of Florence. Father of Ellen and Arthur. Brother of Helen.
