Jonathan Ielpi Missing in Terrorist Attack
Lifelong Great Neck resident Jonathan L. Ielpi, a New York City firefighter and a Vigilant first assistant chief, is still missing. He was one of the first city firefighters into the blazing World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. The 29-year-old Ielpi is the father of two young children and enjoys a reputation as a dedicated firefighter.

After three years of intense study of the needs to update the Main Library, the library board has formed a search committee to find an architect to translate the agreed upon needs to blueprints beginning another phase of decision making by the board and the community.

Changing the Focus of Breast Cancer Activism
Hundreds of women from across the tri-state area are expected to "Walk for Prevention" in Huntington on Sunday, Oct. 7. The "Prevention is the Cure" campaign is designed to publicize cancer prevention and the positive steps women can take to reduce their risks of breast cancer. The walk and rally will also promote research being conducted on the environmental causes of this disease.

24th Annual Long Island Gold Coast 5M/5K Run
The 24th annual Long Island Gold Coast 5M/5K run, sponsored by the United Community Fund of Great Neck and North New Hyde Park, is slated for Sunday, Nov. 11, 9 a.m. There will be prizes for the top three overall male and female winners in each race.
