Fourteen-year-old third generation Great Neck resident Daniel Frankel was presented with 11 awards at the Met PGA Junior Tour ceremonies on Oct. 8. The evening featured special acknowledgement of the Sept. 11 tragedies and emphasized the great opportunities that America provides to its youth in education and sports.
Daniel had a multiple victory season and was the youngest player to qualify for the Jr. PGA Honors Tournament comprised of golfers with high academic achievements. Frankel's third-place overall finish in the Palmer Division entitled him to a commendation from PGA tour pro Loren Roberts. 2001 was the second consecutive year that Frankel placed in the top three positions on the Long Island tour with even more challenging competition than 2000. Daniel greatly improved his distance and short game through the direction of Lake Success Country Club pro Robby Mistretta.
Daniel will be competing this fall/winter on the national Plantation Jr. Golf Tour against the country's top junior players.
