The Steppingstone Sailing Club's Rhodes 19 Group has just put its two aging crafts into winter storage with the hopes that next season will bring at least one new boat for the members to share. The club is appealing to boat owners in the area to donate a used sloop from 19 to 24 feet. The club, opened to Great Neck Park District residents, is considered one of the peninsula's best kept secrets. For a modest annual fee, residents who pass a sailing competency test can enjoy hours of the Sound.
