GNVOA Tackles Police Tax Questions
Responding to concerns about county police taxes that were voiced at last month's Great Neck Village Officials Association meeting, Nassau County Police Department Inspector Michael F. Crawford addressed the Feb. 26 meeting and explained the district tax and the headquarters tax. Villages with their own police department pay only a headquarters tax. Villages without individual police pay both the headquarters tax and a district tax.

Farmer's Market Voted Down by Chamber of Commerce
At a recent meeting of the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce, the board of directors voted to oppose giving their stamp of approval to allow a farmer's market to operate in the Old Village, possibly at the Village Green Park, on one morning a week for the summer to fall season.

Two National Collegiate Athletic Association qualifiers, three broken school records, and eight Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifiers were just some of the highlights as the United States Merchant Marine Mariners competed at the Metropolitan Conference Championships, Friday, Feb. 20, at Rutgers University.

GNN Junior Fencers Go for Gold
The Nassau County Junior Fencing Championships were held Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Garden City High School. At this event junior members of all the Nassau County high school fencing teams had a chance to show their skills and shine in the spotlight. The six members of the Great Neck North team who participated in the competition excelled, all of them finishing in the top five in their respective events.
