Fund-raising and seeking donations from large corporations and small businesses for not-for-profit organizations is challenging, and sometimes it is unpredictable from year to year. Disappointments spring up, but when you persevere and goals are realized, the work is quite satisfying and rewarding.

When Anne Monsees, director of development of the Long Island Special Olympics regional office in Deer Park told this reporter that Special Olympics was in "great need for new stationery," the suggestion was that an ad in Anton Community Newspapers might be very worthwhile. Ms. Monsees did not hesitate to disagree, and as a result the day the ad was released in the Great Neck Record Minuteman Press of Great Neck came to the rescue. Not only did Minuteman Press owner, Susan Pedersen and lead pressman, Stefan Michel generously donate a large supply of stationery and envelopes to Special Olympics, the stationery was beautifully designed with silhouettes of athletes faded in the background in the Special Olympics, colors of teal and orange with matching envelopes. "The stationery has a unique look while it is also professional looking," Michel proudly said with a smile, and he added, "The stationery is definitely sharp looking." Pedersen proudly and fondly added, "Stefan gets all the credit for a terrific job."

"Special Olympics is truly grateful to Minuteman Press of Great Neck and their support of the Special Olympics' Long Island program, and the more than 5,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities we serve," Monsees said. And, Pedersen added, "It was our pleasure to be able to contribute to Special Olympics."

Pedersen and Michel welcome residents to stop by Minuteman Press located at 581B Middle Neck Road to see the "new look" on business and personal stationery.
