A Tree Still Grows in Thomaston
Last Tuesday morning Lynne Kleinman, a trustee in Thomaston, was getting ready to go to work and in passing by her window overlooking a construction site noticed to her horror that a huge tree at the front of the property was being prepped for removal. Neal's Tree Service employees were buzzing the lower branches, a first step before axing. Although her hair was still wet, she raced down to investigate and affirmed that indeed it was slated to come down.

Opening Serve for the Renewal of Village Green Park
In June of this year the Great Neck Park District commissioners invited the public to meet with the landscape architecture design firm, Andropogon Associates of Philadelphia, Pa. to give some direction to the design team before they set to work on a master plan for the Village Green Park. On Nov. 29, Teresa Durkin and Marita Roos, presented a first draft proposal to some 40 residents who attended the meeting at Great Neck House.

Running the NYC Marathon
Jed Berman, long time Kensington resident, ran his fourth New York City Marathon for Fred's Team on Nov. 7. It was a glorious day for running and Jed had a wonderful time participating this year. He was supported by friends and family who not only came in person to cheer him and the other record 35,000 plus runners on, but who helped him raise over $15,000 for the Aubrey Foundation (Fred's Team).

Ice Skating at the Park District Rink
It sure feels like winter and a perfect place to enjoy winter sports is at the Great Neck Park District's Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at the Parkwood Sports Complex on Arrandale Avenue. There are daily skate hours and lots of special ice skating opportunities.
