The Road Runners had a disappointing day on the soccer field as they lost to Village of Branch in a 2-0 game. After a three-week hiatus, 16 players showed up ready to play. The two teams battled hard and played a tight match against each other until the last 10 minutes, when VOB managed to score 2 goals within minutes of each other. The Road Runners played vigorously and with determination, unfortunately the break definitely had its effects on them. VOB turned out to be a tough challenge for the Road Runners.
In the midst of this tough defeat, the Road Runners showed their customary perennial sportsmanship. This clear display of good will was pointed out by the referee and the opposing coach as well. The Road Runners are looking forward to practicing harder this week to be ready for their next opponent, Wantagh. That game was played last Saturday at Harbor links and will be reported on in next week's Great Neck Record.
