By the time this editorial is actually published the weather might well have changed and we might be experiencing a real cold snap, maybe even a snowstorm. But at this time we are in the midst of what our television weather reporters term "a warm front." In other words, it feels like spring outside, not dead winter. And one quite unique and amusing sight to see is the parade of gardening trucks, full of leaves, sporting a snowplow up front.
By January, the gardeners have generally finished their work. Grass has been cut for the last time, shrubs and flowers have been pruned, leaves have been collected, and any necessary winter coverings are already down. So the sight of gardening trucks still on the road, full of leaves and with gardening equipment in full view, is an odd sight for winter. And what makes it really odd, really funny, is that these still-working gardeners are also ready for any imminent snowfall. Their snowplows are in place and waiting. After all it is January! This is the winter season!
I guess that since the weatherman can't make up his mind, neither can the gardeners. Snow or sun? No one knows. We just have to wait and see.
