The board of commissioners of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District will meet at 8:30 a.m., at the GNWPCD office, 236 East Shore Road, Great Neck.
A film will be shown on at 2 p.m. at the Station Branch of the Great Neck Library at The Gardens at Great Neck. Refer to the library newsletter, film brochure or website for information on the films scheduled. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. Arrive early as seating is limited.
The Great Neck Park District will present a Steppingstone Summer Performing Arts Concert, Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway, at 8 p.m. at Steppingstone Park. Admission is with a park card.
The Great Neck Public Schools will open for the 2013-2014 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 2. School district schools will open for all students.
REAP, retired, energetic, active professionals meet every Tuesday at the Cumberland School, 30 Cumberland Avenue in Great Neck, at 9 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month. First is the board meeting and then at 10:30 a.m. there is a business meeting open to all members. “My Opinion” will be presented by Carolyn Minionis, who will choose a short topic of interest to all. The featured speaker is to be announced and the presentation will take place at 10:45 a.m. Current events will be led by Irma Wolin at 12:30 pm. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be served.
An afternoon matinee (for children ages two to 12 with parent/caregiver) will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library. The movie is Disney’s Pixar film, Brave, Princess Merida’s actions unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric wise woman for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The library extends the invitation for an afternoon of popcorn-fueled cinema. MPAA Rating: PG. Adult library card is not valid for registration. Participating child’s library card is required for registration.
The Great Neck Breast Cancer Coalitions’s Yogathon & Wellness Fair is on Sept. 22 at Firefighter’s Park on Grace Avenue. Registration brochures are displayed in over 80 different stores and businesses in Great Neck and also can be found at our Great Neck public libraries and village halls.
A special meeting of the board of trustees of the Great Neck Library will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue and on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Dept. Co. #4, 97. These meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged.
Free flu vaccinations will be provided at St. Aloysius Parish Center at 592 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The flu shots are being offered in conjunction with Catholic Health Services and St. Francis Hospital. For more information, call 516 829-8343.

St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Great Neck is sponsoring a citizenship drive on Monday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 8 p.m., at the church, 592 Middle Neck Road (in the social hall).
